Classic Mexican Restaurant.
What a classic place and in it's old location it had charm. In the new location it is just a dump desperate and sad - in need of paint and pictures all over + a real Bar. As a dump it then lost customers, which in turn draws down the waitresses tips, which lowers their reason to serve well.
No bar even though they have a license. Bar sales would bring up the bill which would bring up the tips and in turn bring up the quality applicants for the jobs.
But many cannot live without the tastes unique to Mexi Casa. The owner is like the soup guy from Seinfeld seriously- mention the decor - NO FOOD FOR YOU 1 YEAR - mention the small glasses of water - NO FOOD FOR YOU 1 YEAR- and many cannot go 1 year without Mexi Casa!!
No bar - too bad for the waitresses and waiters that depend on Mexi Casa for a living.
HORRIBLE FOOD!!!.
Ordered the enchilada and taco plate. The dish had a 5 minute turn around. How the hell was this dish made in under 5 minutes? Well, easy. The refried beans were bland. No flavor whatsoever. The mountain of cheese to mask the "no" flavor didn't help. The rice was nasty. The enchilada tortilla was stale and the beef taco was sub par. The taco was the best part of my dish, i almost ate it all.
Never again will I go.
Anyone that says this place is good or good for the price is crazy. STAY AWAY!!!
Less is more. Visited Mexi-Casa on recommendation of a co-worker. Location is poor, in a neighborhood full of liquor stores, bail bondsmen and smoke shops. They only accept cash. However, the worst part was that my husband got violently ill from the food and he spent an entire morning of our vacation in agony. Our three boys (ages 2, 7 and 12, who all love Mexican food) proclaimed it the worst they've ever had and begged me to redeem it by making homemade enchiladas after our vacation was over. Definitely not worth the time and, as far as cost, it is very cheap, but in this instance you truly get what you pay for (and more -- just ask my husband.)
A Very cheap but good eats. Been going here for years, it is a hole in the wall place as far as looks (It used to be the Kettle restaurant long ago). The food is simple but very good and very cheap. Many times I have fed my family of five for under $20. Where else can you do that at a sit down restaurant? Friday and Saturday nights go early because the place is full. Also they only take cash, so make sure you have some. No one will mistake this for an El Torito or an Acapulco. But why should I pay $15 for a combo plate at these places when I can get an excellent combo plate here for $6? Try the Chili Colorado burrito Deluxe, it is one of my favorites. Tender pieces of beef in a chili sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla then covered with red sauce and cheese. Yummy, for about $4! A whole meal in itself.
Great Value. I have been going to Mexi-Casa for about 30 years now. This place doesn't have the best Mexican food in the world, BUT, it definitely isn't an out-of-the-can place either. The best thing here is value! Where else can you go for lunch at a sit down place, eat a two item combo plate with a coke and be out the door for $5 including tip?
