What People Are Saying About Royal Thai Cuisine

In Short – Royal Thai's bright, Southeast Asian ambience has been host to the Queen of Thailand, in addition to many of Orange County's loyal pad-thai lovers who come back time and again. The menu has all the expected staples, including tom kah soup, mee krob, larb, pad thai and panang, plus specialties like honey duck and volcanic chicken. Most dishes come well spiced, but you may specify less spicy, double spicy or triple spicy.
Wonderful!

Avoid the review by "walkontheocean", because they're talking about the Newport location near the 405 and 55 freeway exits. This one is located in Laguna Beach, and near the beach!
Come here at least once a month from Irvine, but it's worth the drive. The food, drinks, service and ambiance are to die for. Check out the Champagne Brunch on Sundays, where you get a multi course meal for about $14 including drinks, appetizer, salad, main course and dessert! Make sure to sit out on the patio to feel the nice ocean breeze while you're eating.
My favorites: Katoang Thong, Beef Satay, Tila Salad, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Crying Tiger and the coconut and mango ice creams! Their smoothies are also very good.
Avoid. Frozen Food is better. Without the terrible service.

My wife is a food critic and we tried Thai Palms finally, after living here awhile. Where to begin?
The food...worse than disappointing...nearly inedible.....the Pad Thai was burnt badly. The place smelled awful, like burnt hair, the night we were in. The waitress literally had her ipod plugged in, and at one point defiantly looked me in the eye while wailing away to her music, folding napkins while our drink glasses sat empty. Terrible service, very rude too. Food overpriced, I've even eaten Thai in Amarillo Texas and Royal Thai was the WORST I've ever had. I can't believe that Newport Beach tolerates this crappy restaurant. It spoke volumes that we were in there on sunday night, and we were one of only three tables. Most likely, being in a high profile spot in a resort area, they rely on a fresh supply of suckers. Don't go...you'll be so glad you ate somewhere else.
PS They have Thai cooking classes? LOL! To teach you how to make terrible Thai food to alienate your friends?
- Pros: it's in newport beach
- Cons: everything else...food, service, parking, value
