We received a warm welcome walking through the front door looking at the bar area. The dinner area is kinda small but appealing smart decor down to the table setting & bathroom sink-go check it out. My friend was correct the food was great, my chicken and rice dish was very good. Those at my table also enjoyed their meals. The amazing thing about the food was the chef's smart choice of seasoning to prevent bland food, you could tell thought went into the meal. The service was excellent, we were helped by several different servers, drinks refilled without flagging someone down, the food came in a timely manner, the DIVERSE crowd that night were friendly, the band(The Rare Form Band) was great-yes- I bought the CD. The prices are pretty reasonable, I can pay more for good food. You may not remember how it tasted but you wont forget it was good. The Santa Ana address will cause concern to some but this is a nice area after last years facelift . It has an Old Town Pasadena feel without the dreaded parking. There's a parking lot directly behind the restaurant and a parking structure (for those of us who love our cars) that has the best prices in town after 6pm-FREE-. Only a few businesses are open at night so you get a night out without elbowing a thousand people on the street. I'm not trying to make this place sound like its the best thing since sliced bread but it is considereably better than other restaurants who think they are. So here's the deal, you get a warm reception, the servers take care of you, the food is tasty, the ambience is appealing & relaxing, the entertainment is good and you leave satisfied thinking that was a good dining experiene. If I had to be picky I would say the band could have turned their instrument volume down just a touch and the lights could have been dimmed slightly. I will return & suggest you try it
Great OC Find!!!!.
My wife and I wanted to try a new restaurant in Orange County for our anniversary and our research led us to try Jason's. It is located in an area of Santa Ana that is currently undergoing a facelift. However, we were extremely glad that we took a chance on something new and different. The decor is fresh and hip, but understated. The restaurant was not very crowded due it's location, which scares some people away.
Food Ordered: Jason's Salad, Prime Ribeye, Filet Mignon, Brulee Cheesecake
Pluses: Food (Great Steaks and salads!!!), Food Prices, Service, Decor, Live Music
Minuses: Drink prices a little steep ($9 martini in a small glass)
Overall Grade: A-
We will definitely go back again. I hope it stays "undiscovered" for our benefit
Great Rastaurant. I really got a home feeling at this place like the place you could just hang out at for a while. They have a full bar, live music some weekends, and when we went a great Latin jazz band. I recently moved to Santa Ana and the art walk is so fun and you realize how much more is going on in Santa Ana than you previously thought. Anyways too keep it short, the place is cool, and the food is amazing (Carribbean Crepes. At walk is 1st Sat. of each month, its the perfect night to try out a new and unique place to eat.
Editorial Review. Santa Ana eatery provides lunch, dinner, bar and extensive wine menus as well as live entertainment.
Incredible food, and a fabulous atmosphere.. Well, I've lived in Orange for a while now, and find Downtown Santa Ana one of the most up and coming hang out spots available in the OC. Jason's Downtown Restaurant is a clear example of what I mean. A place which resembles the sophisticated but still comfortable type of scene you'd find in New York, or Frisco. The food is out of this world, from middle eastern dishes like their Lamb Tajine (OMG), to their good old Potstickers w/ some kicker mango sauce to dip. The service is great but still comfortable and layed back(Not snobby, which is annoying), and whether you're there for lunch in their huge patio w/ the bright sky, or enjoying their live music on weekends, the place is perfect.
