Editorial Review for Restaurant 162 – by Jennifer Schwartz
The Scene
A jazzy trio fills the hotel's casual dining room with standards, while the sunny patio overlooking the pool buzzes with activity. By noon, booths and tables are filled with pampered hotel guests and luxe-loving locals indulging cultured palates in free-flowing champagne and gourmet food.
The Food
The Ritz-Carlton takes Sunday brunch to new heights with more than 50 exquisitely presented breakfast standards and indulgent delicacies. The buffet begins with a bloody mary bar, followed by a seafood feast of crab legs, shrimp, two types of caviar, seared ahi and rows of fresh sushi rolls. In heated silver trays, there's tender roasted chicken, poached salmon and, of course, eggs Benedict. Attendants prepare made-to-order omelettes and waffles and slice desired cuts of roast beef. The experience ends at the dessert room, a cozy nook brimming with creamy cheesecake, fresh-baked pastries, handmade candies and seasonal fruits and berries.

We went on a saturday night for a quiet anniversary dinner, and quiet it was it was not crowded as we expected it to be and there was a live band playing which was very entertaining. The service is spectacular (the waiters and waitresses are overly courteous) The food is great we had the pacific salmon and mahi mahi. We regret going at night because we sat in front of those awesome gigantic windows but it was dark so we could not enjoy the view... Definetely recommend this restaurant the food and service is exceptional! The only thing i didnt like was the restaurant would get crowded every now and then with guests who were waiting to take the elevator to their rooms(it kid of feels awkward) but other then that everything was perfect. they even brought us a surprise pastry for our anniversary which was pretty nice!
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: restaurant location

The Seafood Night on Fridays at the Ritz Carlton was the biggest disappontment of the year so far. I decided to go with a friend after reading that 162 won best brunch for 2 years in a row. What a mistake that was. We frequent the St. Regis brunch, which is magnificent. There was no comparison. All there was in the buffet was seafood. The desserts were disgusting, and I couldn't cut through the salmon with a fork. I've learned my lesson. When you find a winner, stick with it. This place needs to take some lessons from the new kid on the block, so to speak. Service was wonderful, I must say, as it should when you're paying $100 per person (after tax and tip). The ambience is very poor. It's like they didn't know where to put the restaurant, so they stuck it in a hallway on the way to the guest room elevators. Every guest must walk through the "restaurant" to get to the elevators. Poor design.
Pros: Excellent Service.
Cons: The Food.
