Editorial Review for Hotel Laguna – by Gayot.com
The Scene
There are landmarks in Orange County, and then there is the Hotel Laguna, which has been an oceanfront fixture since 1888, a year before this posh county was even created. While this stately old inn's history may be a part of its charm (it used to be a beach club), that doesn't mean you'll have to rough it.
The Details
Guest rooms offer original character, and although some face the rose garden, alas, they offer no balconies. Not to fear, because there are great views to be had from the lively outdoor Terrace Cafe, which sits right on the sand, and from Claes Seafood, the in-house fishmonger. If it gets too cool on the private beach, furnished with umbrellas, chaise lounges and cocktail service, move inside to the original lounge, where live music is featured on weekends. The hotel also has a flower-filled patio with a gazebo, making it a popular spot for weddings.
