Food poisoning. My wife got deathly ill from eating there lobster benigs, I thought she would die, and when I told the manager about it, she said, "the next time you come in there will be an appetizer on me. To me that is real condescending and insulting. We used to enjoy this restaurant, a lot of nice waiters and the food used to be good. we have heard a lot of bad reports on it lately, we won't go back. Incidentally I emailed the general manager about our experience and he didn't even answer.
Great quiet room, great good food. We had 9 guests at our table and we were able to carry on a conversation without raising our voices! The $10 specials were delicious, ample and served by a very attentive waitress & staff. Savannah is at the top of our dine out list.
So fantastic!.
Best $10 you will ever spend!
They had a $10 special for their anniversary, and had such a great outcome that they decided to keep it!
Halibut, filet mignon, or half a pound of crab for only $10's....
I had the filet mignon and my boyfriend had the halibut!! both fantastic!!! We are making this a weekly date!
Nice ambience, marginal service, varying food preparation quality. Nice atmosphere. Service is marginal -- we heard excuses like "sorry the bar is backed up" to explain why things took so long. Dinner seemed a long time in coming after we ordered, then we were approached three times with meals that weren't ours. Food quality was generally good, but one of the steaks came underdone -- unfortunately it took so long that we didn't want to send it back. The manager comp'd the dinner, but still, we were after a good dinner, not a free one. At the prices charged, we expected better.
EXCELLENT FOOD, SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE!!!. This is a wonderful dining experience! I've never had a bad meal/service here & I've been often. It's a very comfortable (but elegant) feeling and if you want something alittle more "casual" the bar offers the full menu and they have a great patio (especially in the summer) or in the cooler months next to the roaring fire pit (they also have ample heaters outside). The steaks are fabulous & always cooked perfectly (my favorite is the New York with the bluecheese butter). They also offer some "comfort" food such as fried chicken and TERRIFIC boneless beef shortribs and FINGERLICKING GOOD BBQ RIBS!! The servers and staff are TERRIFIC!! It's hard to find a place that can be equally great for a special romantic dinner or just a great meal with the family! (they have a good kids menu)! The bar also has live music to enjoy & they make a great martini (thanks JR & Anthony!!) - all in all, you can't go wrong with this little jewel in the OC!!
Baby boomers meet and eat American-style at this plush chophouse..
The Scene
Savannah belongs to an Orange County family of popular high-concept restaurants that offer polished decor, friendly service and satisfying food--in that order. At Savannah, curved booths, soft surfaces and a sweeping, oceanview patio set the scene for romantic tête-a-têtes or giddy celebrations.
The Food
Though the traditional steakhouse menu claims some Southern influences, other than the Creole sauce and blackened Voodoo steak, the only thing Southern at Savannah is the hospitality. The 16 ounce, bone-in, dry-aged, USDA-prime New York sirloin is so flavorful it needs none of the three optional sauces. In lieu of the french fries or mashed potatoes, opt for a baked potato with all the fixings. Other accompaniments cost extra, but serve two--bypass the gluey, creamed corn for the crunchy green beans or garlicky rapini. Ask for a half-size, half-priced order of the King crab legs and fill up on the rich, jalapeno cheddar potatoes that come with them.
