I have been back to the Career Academy of Beauty to have Delaney Rogers do my make up and cut / style my hair.

My experience has only gotten better and better !

Defending a Great School. I felt that I needed to defend this school against angry students current and former. This place, like any school, is what you make of it. What you need to realize is that the world gives you what you give it. Some students come in with the mind set to learn, be successful, and build a life from this career and when they leave hear they leave to be successful because they set themselves up for that. Others come in here, not knowing what to do in life, no clue, no direction and no will to learn. Some open up to learning others use there time playing with they’re own hair, makeup, phones and sometimes drugs. They leave with what they gave…Nothing. I read these reviews and I observe some of the points said in each of them. Point one- Bugs. A constant rule trying to be enforced is always eating on the clinic floor. Students who don’t care, don’t listen and continue breaking this rule. The bugs go away when the food rule is followed. Those who care about the school and realize food does not belong in the learning environment don’t eat where theyre not supposed to. Pont 2- The Sweatshop. I hear this all the time from those who do not enjoy what they do. I only hear that phrase when the student lacks the ability to perform services on the client. The reason the same people get all the “good” services is because they give positive attitude and in return the receive likeable services. Those who get the more time consuming or unlikeable services such as perms don’t put in the effort to come to school on time, be respectful to rules or just have crappy attitudes. Point 3- Staff. I have never had instructors care and here they do. They care about those who follow rules and instruction, they care about those who put in the effort to learn, they put more time into the so called Favorites because they come to school in uniform, they don’t eat when and where they please, they don’t constantly have their cell phone in hand and they're always willing to learn no matter who the client is and how many clients they’ve taken that day. Everynew client is a new experience Point 4: Fliers for good reviews. This is how business' get reviews, from students who are actually happy to be heading into this career and people who care about a great education. It is a way to encourage people to speak out in a positive way. Because of the few reviews that are negative there are 10 times more positive. As for calling Martha a tweaker you really should learn a little from that woman. She has nothing to hide, and no reason to steal money. She is the retail manager and buyer for the school she needs to take money from he register to cover school supplies when the owners are not there. to write a check. She will openly tell you about her life as a and her battles.and if you took the time to talk to her and listen to her you would know she lives a sober life and only works and lives for her daughter.

I just felt that a lot of the negativity from the other reviews were reactions from angry students who got caught doing stupid crap and instead of solving the problem within themselves they retaliate with hatred towards a school that is only doing something good for them.

when a teacher doesn't say or do something to teach you a lesson that's when you want to be worried because thats when the teacher has given up on you, and thats not the place you want to be.

Great Place to Get your hair done and a good price. Bonner is awesome - he gets my hair done quickly and I look soooo gorgeous when i am done. Thanks Bonner your the best.

if you like old ladies and nazi staff members..... as a former student of career academy i feel that i need to explain how this school works. although the freshmen program (where you spend your first few months in the school) is amazing and ms. cyndee is an amazing teacher along with the floor instructors mr.alfred , mr. perez, ms. mariah and ms. tina, the rest of the staff is incredibly rude, unprofessional, immature, and seem to make themselves feel better by undermining the other staff and students. on a few occasions ms kathy blatantly disrespected me in front of a client or made me cry in the office (which has glass windows allowing everyone to see in) while clients and other students watched. they dont care nor do they understand when someone id having issues outside of the school and cannot focus only on the school. many students refer to the school as a 'sweatshop' or 'hell' because of the amount of stress put upon us to not only preform above and beyond state board protocol but to the administrations own personal standards that is extremely difficult to meet even for those about to graduate and the fact that we only earn what the clients decide to tip us (2-5 dollars on avarge). for some reason they dont understand that we are STUDENTS!! we are LEARNING!!!! yet the expect us to be able to preform at levels that only those who have been in the business for years can achieve. also, ms dayna and ms kathy tend to favor some students over others, giving them warning instead of write ups (the schools disciplinary actions) or having one student call another to warn them that they're going to be dropped while not giving another student any warning (not even a note sent to the house) untill said student comes in to the school . also, students do tend to make mistakes, while with some students theyll let these mistakes slide with others they not only take disiplenary action but they also personally attack the student and have a tendency to do so infront of patrons of the school.

the front desk that assigns the students clients and procedures also plays the favorites game and will give the students they like the more challenging and widely seen in salon procedures while the rest are stuck doing roller sets, perms, and haircuts. also, ms martha is will get upset and report you to an administrator if you say no to a client even if you have just finished a client, if you haven't taken a break, or if you've been overbooked and just found the time for lunch.

and that brings me to my next point, the break room is disgusting, because of the general lack of respect from many of the students (some high school, some in their 30's and up) the school has had cockroaches, flies, and other bug problems (not to mention the gnats outside that swarm the trash can by the benches). the break room is also often filthy and covered in food, trash, or students trying to keep from getting clients. the bathrooms arent much better.

the clients are often sweet but tend to be over the age of 60, some cant even walk. and not all the clientel is sweet, i personally have been yelled at, harassed and on one occasion pinched very hard by a client.

as far as the students, all i have to say is that if you're considering attending career academy still, ask yourself: did i enjoy the social aspect of high school? did i enjoy the cattiness, cliques, romuors, and lack of privacy?if so, you'll love CAofB. also, make sure you put your name on all of your stuff, things have a tendency to get stolen by students.oh, and for a few months (even now) theyre are fliers around the school telling students to go onto this website and write good reviews for the school to recive a free personal service (that means they get a facial/manicure/haircut etc for free from the school) so be wary of these reviews, im sure plenty are students pretending to be clients.

oh and as far as service, unless you're lucky enough to get someone ready to graduate, you're gunna get what you pay for, and CAofB has some pretty cheap prices.....

If Barbie loves it, You'll Love it!!!. I love the fact that the skool is an actual salon! Of course when i graduate i want to work in a salon, and just being at that skool i feel as though im really in that kind of environment! I love the little beauty supply store we have there too! Its super duper cute!!!

Great School!. I love going to Career Academy of Beauty because it is a great place to learn and I've made some amazing friends attending the beauty school! I love Miss Tina and Mr. Perez they are always a great help with any questions i have! I feel blessed to attend such a great school!

Great School!. I am very happy with the services I get from CAofB. I been going there for about a year now. I can call at the last minute and get an appt right away, which helps with the busy schedule I have. Shyla Wilkerson is hard devoted student, always trying to make her customers happy with doing exactly what the customers want done. I would definately ask for her when you stop in! :)

Career Academy of Beauty in Garden Grove. Beauty School...The quality of services are truly comparable to most full service salons and you can't beat the prices.

Best bargain for good hair services.. This is a great beauty school. The last student that did my hair was Tasha Nicholson and she was excellent - fast - friendly - and helpful. I think the Career Academy of Beauty in Garden Grove is the best. I am very happy to have my hair done here and recommend it to all my friends.
