Sinfully good ice cream for grown-up palates.. The Scene The storefront is unassuming. The sign, tasteful and simple: chocolate letters on a vanilla background. There are no cartoon characters or splashy colors. Inside, the ice cream shop is small, with gray counters accented by muted gold. Everything is clean and neat--including the perfectly round, firm scoops atop your cone.
The Food Although Häagen Dazs ice cream has long been a staple of supermarket freezers, don't mistake it for a generic frozen dessert. The names are straightforward--Green Tea, Dulce de Leche, Bailey's Irish Cream--but the flavors are sophisticated. The Belgian Chocolate Chocolate is deliciously dark and speckled with tiny bittersweet chocolate flecks. Thick, creamy shakes and malts are major caloric indulgences, but worth it. The gelatos are good, but don't expect to be transported to Italy.
