Editorial Review for The Fairmont Miramar Hotel – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
A place of both history and legend, beginning with the enormous Moreton Bay fig tree at the center of the courtyard entrance, this posh oceanside property has welcomed such illustrious guests over the years as Greta Garbo, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Howard Hughes, the Kennedys and Bill Clinton.
The Details
The guest rooms are divided between the older--and more charming--brick Palisades building, the contemporary Ocean Tower and a collection of quaint bungalows. Separated from the main buildings by landscaped gardens and fountains, the luxurious bungalows house casually stylish suites with private balconies overlooking the ocean, oversized tubs and extensive entertainment centers. One of the more interesting modern touches to the hotel is found in the 176 Ocean Tower rooms, where bathrooms include Japanese turbo-bidets. Many of the upper rooms have superb ocean views--just remember, it'll cost you.

Spent the weekend at The Fairmont in an ocean view room facing the pier on the 10th floor. The view was awesome, the grounds are gorgeous, but the room was just nice (I was expecting something a little nicer and larger for the price). The staff was EXCELLENT and courteous. The valet washed my windows and gave us Evian water for the road! Had in-room dining for breakfast which was delicious. I would stay here again!
Pros: Location, Great Service, Beautiful
Cons: Parking , Room was so-so, Expensive
