Yummy Japanese curry.
Before my visit to the Curry House I hadn't tried Japanese curry yet, I was very pleased. They offer a nice variety of spicy to mild curry. There is always a wait and the parking lot gets crowded so get there early for dinner.

Service could be better.
Food was pretty good, but the service needs to be improved. Perhaps they were shorthanded on the day I visited this restaurant, but it took too much time between seating, ordering, serving, and water refilling. Also, the waiters didn't look to happy to be working there.

Families and trendy couples flock to this lively spot for Japanese curry.
In Short
Originally opened in Little Tokyo in 1983, this mini-chain brings Japanese curry to the masses. Enthusiastic crowds of 20-somethings, couples and families fill the dining room. Most curry dishes consist of battered and fried meat, poultry and seafood served over rice and covered with sweet-spicy Japanese brown curry gravy. Like its Japan-based counterparts, the kitchen also cooks up spaghetti and other noodle dishes. Servers prepare stone-grilled, seafood curry rice with calamari and scallops tableside in a cast-iron pot.

good food, not so great service.
I came here for dinner one time and there were four of us. Three of us got served our dinners and the last meal didn't arrive for a long while. I never went back to this place because that was very poor service. They should have timed it better and I've worked in a restaurant.
I gave it two stars because of that bad experience but I've been there for lunch since and the service was fine. I will not forget that dinner moment that was ruined and dinner was cold for waiting for others to be served.
The food here is good though and they make it customed to your liking with is good. I feel the prices are fair also.

Great location, awesome food, inconsistent service.
I've eaten at every Curry House except for the Cypress location. This one off of Culver has a decent amount of parking and there's a great little yogurt place around the corner for dessert. The curry dishes are consistent with the other locations, but the staff has its' ups and downs. Sometimes I'll get a very friendly waitress who will check in often to make sure everything is okay; other times I'll have to flag someone down even for a refill. I'm hardcore when it comes to Japanese curry and used to drive here from San Diego several times a month.

Good -.
This casual Japanese curry style restaurant was a new experience for me. The grilled rice is similar to the Korean hot pots, only Japanese curry style has a rich curry gravy instead of the traditional Korean hot sauces. Good for a tasty casual dinner.
