Great Independent Restaurant!. Very nice decor, very friendly staff, and great-tastin' food. We try and seek out local restaurants and steer clear from the chains. This is one of our favorites in the area. They are consistent and you can tell they care about your experience. Give it a try.
Delicious Deep Dish!. I go here all the time with my boyfriend and his family- and these are the rare occasions when I actually eat pizza- let me tell you- its worth it! We usually just order the chopped salad to share- which is, you know, your average chopped salad- good, but nothing special, but the pizza is awesome! Thick, juicy, savory, cheesy- tomatoe-y: everything you could ever want in a pie.
Chicago Pizza? That's a joke. But it's about as good as you'll get in Orange County.. Good pan pizza, but it's a shame they put Chicago in the name. Decent pizza, but not a Chicago pie.
Poor Management, Poor Service.
If you''ve got plenty of time and little dining experience it must be a great place to eat. If you expect your meal to be served hot and all at once, then best try Dominos. The horrible paradox here is when you want your server for something, they'll be up at the window waiting for another order. One would think that if they had a manager on duty that they would see what went on.
Best to try another restaurant.
LAAAAAA. If I'm not mistaken, Selma's is somehow connected to BJ's, which explain the uncanny pizza similarity. This is not a bad thing at all, since the pizza is really good, and actually much cheaper than at BJ's. There's even a pizookie equivalent. Go for it!
A great place to eat if.
Read some reviews about this place. Having lived in Chicago, gave it a try.
The wait was twice as long as we were lead to believe by the hostess. There is very little area to wait for the table. People waiting for a table have to constantly move out of the way of waiters and exiting patrons. As I was standing next to the hostess, the manager comes by and gives her a note and tells her to seat one of his buddies and his party (who just arrived) infront of all the guests that have been waiting, and pushed around the tiny waiting area.
As we sat down we noticed the silverware had food caked on not one but two settings. Before we ordered our meal, we ordered drinks, and after drinking half of the dark beer I discovered "things" stuck to the inside of my mug -- looked like some more food caked on from some previous guests. Stopped the waiter who got me a new glass of beer.
The sevice is slow.
Food is Italian but there are much better and authentic places around, that are cleaner and better suited for serving patrons.
One more thing checked the bill and was charged for the beer with the crud stuck on the inside of the mug.
C'mon this ain't Chicago pizza. Don't get me wrong, I highly recommend this place, but I know Chicago Pizza and this is NO CHICAGO PIZZA. For starters, it's "Pan Pizza"...a gourmet version of Pizza Hut, not a "Deep Dish" that weighs 30 pounds like at Rosati's, Edwardo's, or even Uno's. Go...enjoy...but it won't make you homesick.
Authentic Chicago-style pizza, calzones and pasta in a family-friendly atmosphere..
In Short
Brick walls, plank floors and comfy booths provide a casual setting for locals who flock here to savor deep-dish pizzas piled high with meats, veggies, thick sauce and lots of cheese. Sandwiches, pastas and salads come in monstrous portions served with fresh-baked bread. Toasted ravioli and "Born to Be Wild" wings are the most requested appetizers, and The Mother Ship, a triple chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream is the signature dessert.
Heavenly Pizza aka Selma's. There are not too many pizza places in Orange County that taste as amazing as Selma's. The menu is so mouth watering. They have everything from the best Chicago pizzas to my two all-time favorites, the turkey sandwich and brownie motherload dessert. You can't leave without having this delectable chocolate treat. Make sure to come on an empty stomach so that you can make room for everything that tempts your taste buds. It's definetly worth it. ENJOY!!!
