Editorial Review for Dockside Boat & Bed – by Gayot.com

The Scene
A small fleet of luxury sailing yachts, rather than the typical landlocked building, houses this unusual bed-and-breakfast, giving seaworthy guests a chance to stay on their choice of 50-foot vessels with names such as Archangel and decorative themes hinting at China. This mini flotilla is docked in Long Beach Harbor's Rainbow Harbor development, close to shopping, Pike Avenue's Rainbow Harbor and the Long Beach Aquarium.

The Details
Imaginative styles range from the Mei Wen Ti, which is an authentic Chinese Junk, to the sophisticated Whimsy, a streamlined luxury vessel. Each boat features a kitchenette and all the comforts of a regular hotel room, with the added benefit of unparalleled Queen Mary views, fresh salt air and the fulfilled fantasy (albeit for just a night or two) of owning your own yacht.

For about the same price as a luxury hotel you can rent a whole boat and spend the night(s) on the water at a dock. You can cook or you can get take out at one of the many restaurants along the boardwalk - all within walking distance. Check it out!

Pros: 5-6 different kind of boats, kitchens, the ocean and a great view.

Cons: Can be a litle hard to find, make sure you ask them about parking arrangements

I set up the romantic weekend package so celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on one of their boats--the chinese junk in fact. Between their arranging a wonderful dinner, roses, champagne, and the incredible beauty of the boat itself (which is such a wonder--I'd love to stay there for weekds), we both had one of the best weekends of our lives. And it's right in the middle of the best of Long Beach, so when we were done we enjoyed the town. I cannot recommend this enough.

Pros: Great Views, Helpful Staff, Great Value

If you can't afford your own luxury yacht, at least you can spend the night on one.  See the full editorial review.
