Mr. C's Towing practices what is called "Predatory Towing". They illegally towed my vehicle from a commercial parking lot. My daughter parked in a commercial parking lot on the morning of 5/18/13. Her car was towed by this company. Upon learning of the tow, we looked for evidence of no parking signs. We found one that was more than 50% obscured by a tree. I proceeded to take a digital picture of the obscured sign. I went to the tow yard where the car was stored and asked to speak with a manager. They told me the manager had left. I showed the representative the picture of the obscured sign and she said that maintaining the sign was not their responsibility. I then asked for the name of the property owner. She said she did not have that information. Instead she gave me the phone number of a security company that she said requested the tow. I left a message with that company and have received no returned call. That company is called KMA Security 714 538-1001. I was told that the tow fee was $155 and I would have to pay that amount to have the car released. Later, I discovered that they had actually charged my credit card $272.00. I have disputed the charge with my bank. I was told by a person named Ricky that he could give the property owner's number if I called him another day. I believe that this company is practicing "Predatory Towing" and is in cahoots with security people employed by them. They extort money from you by confiscating your car and holding it until they are paid. The company does not provide information on how to file a complaint or do they claim to have any discretion to waive or discount fees. I was told by them that the city requires them to charge what they charge and that they have no discretion whatsoever.

ok this is not creative.my car had a overheating prob.went to cvs,came back start it wont start went to conventional center at 11 come back my car is gone.called tow charging me 300.overnight.what should i do..should i get a lawyer or something i leave in oc slept at the bus stop this is too much.i wonder if the tow guys have understanding he hang up on me last night

They towed my car from a parking lot. I called them and was instantly greeted by a rude person. I told him what car was mine and he said it would cost me $270 to take it out.

disappointed. Thursday, May 10,2012 the transmission in my truck went out. I parked in a local strip mall located on cerritos & bloomfield not but 1/2 block from Mr. C's towing. Knowing that it was private parking i went to a local business to ask if it would be alright to park over nite untill i could get a transmission shop to have it towed to. They said it wouldn't be a problem but i should leave a note knowing that Mr.C;s patrol's that parking lot and had come in to her shop ( Grateful Hearts) a thrift store that cottonwood church works with and asked if that was her car parked out there. I did this also contacted the property managment company, and was given permission. Just to make sure i walked down to Mr.c's office and spoke to Matt and he assurd me that it would not be a problem. I arranged to have it towed May 12th to a transmission shop. one more time i called the office of Mr. c's to let know i had permission and not to tow please. I spoke a worker there named Larry or thats what he said his name was he was extreamly rude, and wouldn't answer simple questions and hung up on me saying he was a answering service which was not true he was there disspatcher. Went to pick it up with tow company to transmission shop May 12 and they had towed it saying the security company had called them which wasn't true . talked to the managment company and was told they have no security company. When i went to the office to ask why they towed my truck with all i did to prevent this again this Larry was extreamly rude wouldn't answer me only saying deal with and handing me a bill for $311 in just had a heart attack and can't afford this. The reason I'm writing this is because i understand if i were illegaly parked or blocking someone i'd expect to get towed i wasn't there's plenty of parking. I just think it had everything to do with making a dollar. so sad that a person that did everything not to have his truck towed getting permission making mr. c's aware.

Known Criminals. If you google their business you will find that they had their drivers had been arrested by Long Beach Police Dept. for predatory towing. My car was also impounded, and I was referred to them. They first denied having towed my car, then took a long time to even find the records to confirm they had taken it, I asked them the reason and offered documents and proof to dismiss their claims. But at that point they already had my car, and just wanted CA$H, there was no reasoning with them and they were inconvenienced to even answer a few questions, and said even if I bring legal document and DMV proof to , they would still not release my vehicle without paying hundreds of dollars, and furthermore, they would compound the fees if the vehicle stayed there longer. File your complaints against them to City of Los Alamitos, Better Business Bureau, Calif. Highway Patrol (CHP), and take them to small claims court. Take a witness & camera & recorder when you go there to document everything.

Mr C's Night time raids. Beware ! Good Citizens. Mr C's Towing is out there. Look for the Sign ! Or placard, Stating CV22658 caption .Is this legal . Is it legal ? The difference between a Car Jacking at Gun Point ,and Mr C's ? $218.00 .

Mr C's will only "Store " Your car . A Car Jacker at least will steal it .

very shady! read all of this!!!. we got towed out of a private property. i called Mr.C's and they were extremely rude and very defensive when i questioned there business. and they have a right to be defensive,they are barely legal. many people have reviewed about them violating V C Section 22658, which is some what true. they have violated many parts of that but they found all the loop holes and used it to their advantage. they CAN tow your vehicle more the 10 miles away as long as they are able to release your vehicle after normal business hours. Mr. C's is 24 hours, which is after normal business hours. another "violation" they had was towing with out a notice on your vehicle and they need written permission and description on the car,i live in a private community which hires an assigned parking service company, who hired Mr. C's. each company has a contract with each other and permission from local PD,that says they can do that.although Mr.C's is rude and unethical, they are technically legal,barely. if you get towed by Mr.C's be prepared to read up on your local laws, contact your community and local PD. they seem like dumb truck drivers but some how they are actually good at finding loop holes to charge you the most amount of money possible and to make your day hell!

MR. C'S TOWING ARE CROOKS. I live in Anaheim about 17 miles away from Mr. C's towing company. first thing they did was break a california vehicle code.. CVC 22658 (n) (1) (AA) a vehicle removed from a private property shall be stored in a facility that is located within a 10-mile radius of the property from where the vehicle was removed i am 17 miles away. 2nd they removed my vehicle from my parking spot without notice. i was not blocking anyone nor was there any fire hydrant near by. they were suppose to give me a warning first before towing per what the CTTA law says! if you have been a victim like i have please write your story and sent me a email. im in the process of suing them. you are entitled to get your money back plus more. they will be hearing from me. they are not professionals, They left my car abondent in there back alley without telling me about it. They gave me attitude from the gecko and all they wanted was my money. I had to call my insurance company "AAA" and even they warned me about this shady company.

Professional, Yeah right. Went to get my car released not only did I have to wait over an hour but my Driver side door panel was covered in grease! I still havent been able to get it out! When I called to complain all I got was "Oh well, those are the risk."

Wrongful tow's. I guess when you have a double parking spot they want to tow you if you are over the 2 by half the vehicle.
