Citysearch Editorial Review. This quaint and cozy restaurant designed in the style of an English cottage made its way to La Habra via the owners of L.A.'s El Cholo and The Cannery in Newport Beach. The restaurant makes return guests out of first-timers with New American cuisine like grilled lamb tenderloin, Muscovy duck leg confit and grilled swordfish. As its name suggests, the restaurant is coated in cat portraits, and guests dining in checkerboard chairs sip wine from the adjacent store to the tunes of a live pianist. Hearty appetites are staved with small plates of shrimp Provencal, making way for main entrees of pan seared salmon and filet tenders stroganoff served with wild mushrooms.
Lovely and Romantic. The service is spot on, knowlegeable and friendly. Atmosphere was elegant and contemporary without being stuffy. Even the piano bar music was great. The food is consistently outstanding.
La Habra's Best. I absolutely love this place! The ambiance is terrific and the food is even better. We had a scallop salad that was probably the best salad I've ever had. The pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked and the wine selection is great as well. The service was prompt and very friendly. They also had a wonderful pianist helping me to pass the time as I waited for a friend. Highly highly recommended!
What a sensorial experience!.
My husband and I found this restaurant by accident driving east on Whittier Blvd. The only thing that made me go there was its name. Loved the building from the outside. We entered and loved the ambience immediately. The staff couldn't have been better, excelent service. We ordered a full on meal with red wine:
- Appetizer: Prosciutto wraped sea scallops
- Salad: Fresh Mozzarella and Vine ripened tomatoes Salad
- Entree: Australian Lamb Tenderloin (OMG!)
- Desserts: Bread pudding and Tri color mousse
It was SSSOOO good. Words can't describe what we felt when eating each and every plate. We didn't want it to end, that's for sure. The lamb is a MUST!
Gem in La Habra.... my bf & i decided to give this restaurant a try after reading the couple of good reviews on this website. since there's no pictures or any detailed descriptions, we went in there finding ourselves a little in shocked w/ how good the food and service were. my absolute favorite was their special salad of the nite, which was the brie salad. i've never heard so much brie in my salad in any other restaurants before. their creme brulee was a great dessert to end ur dinner as well. although the price is on the higher side, but i'll definitely keep this in mind for any upcoming special occassion.
A hidden diamond. In my travels I've visited, among others, Morton's and Ruth's Chris. I measure a steakhouse by the quality of its filet mignon - The Cat & The Custard Cup blows away everyone else and I say that as a true carnivore. My filet was prepared to perfection, it cut like butter and left me wishing I could have only found room for more.
One of my favorites!. I've been going to the Cat and the Custard Cup for years and I love it! The food is exellent (last time I had the lamb and I couldn't stop eating!) and the atmosphere is wonderful, very romantic. Even though I've moved out of Whittier, I can't stop coming back to this place!
Nice place.
The Thursday night dinner club went here and was impressed. We tried the escolar, the coulotte cut, and the pork tenderloin. All delicious!!
The best creme brulee (but it is called cat and the CUSTARD cup)! Great service! Billy Joel medley and Phantom was played at the piano bar. Avoid the lemon tart. The only minus in a night full of plusses!!!
