Editorial Review for Avenue of the Peninsula – by Amanda Knoles

In Short
Formerly known as The Shops at Palos Verdes, this mall emerged from a major renovation as an open-air shopping center lined with upscale chain stores. Three levels decorated with colorful tiles lend a contemporary look to the sprawling stairways and strategically placed escalators. Families crowd the interactive fountain and the Ice Chalet skating rink, while other patrons enjoy beverages on the Starbucks patio or dinner at Marie Callender's and Baja Grill.

This is a great mall to do upscale shopping. The mall is large, beautiful and quiet. It is in a very nice neighborhood and has many useful upscale clothing stores. I love going to this mall to do my fancy clothing shopping. Just 2 or maybe 3 miles down the road is del amo fashion mall which has EVERY low-mid level store that you need. When I want cheap clothes I go to the mall down the hill, when I want a pleasant upscale shopping experience I dont have to go all the way to beverly hills or newport beach.

The architecture is beautiful--I always like to come here and stroll on weekend mornings when the weather is nice. BUT, they really lack good stores. Sure, its fun to go into Saks and look around, but they really dont have any REAL stores here. They need to knock in some good stores to attract people. If you want to watch a movie in a quiet theater with your honey, this is the place to go. They also have a nice big Starbucks with lots of comfy chairs, if you like that kind of thing.

Pros: decent restaurants, movies, parking

Cons: needs some real clothes stores, so quiet here its creepy
