Editorial Review for Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Steal away to this unpretentious spa to experience the waters that have soothed weary souls since the 1860s. These natural hot springs draw a mostly middle-aged suburban crowd, which means you needn't fret about how last season's swimsuit fits now. Rather than quiet and contemplative, it's more of an upbeat social scene--expect conversations to be struck up all the while as you soak, swim, float and lounge.
The Services
Admission buys access to the 17 pools and spas on-site, which include the signature red-clay mud bath, a saltwater spa, hot mineral pools and two "champagne" pools--shallow tubs with carbonation-like bubbles floating up from the bottom. Glen Ivy's latest addition is the "Grotto"--an underground treatment area where guests slather on aloe-and-kelp body moisturizer and retreat into the hydrating chamber. Spa treatments and salon services require reservations, but general admission and the Grotto service do not.

Insider Tips
Look GoodTo get silky-smooth skin, slather on the mud, bake in the sun and scrub clean. (Don't wear your favorite swimsuit if you don't want mud stains).
Where to SitThe Grotto accommodates up to six people at one time. Relax with friends while the aloe vera-sea kelp potion works its magic.
Know Before You GoThe steam rooms and the Roman baths inside the locker rooms are the only single-sex facilities.

This is not a spa, this is an over priced community pool. Where are the necessary spa environment components like spa music, knowledgeable and accommodating staff, spa drinking water, or robes?! This place needs to really get it together if they are going to continue to use the word SPA. How do I get back my time?
Pros: The nataural beauty of the location.
Cons: The price, the high school staff, the smell, the cheap bleach stained towels, the lines, & the tacky clientell that the place attacts.

Glen Ivy was a nice get-away from the everyday stresses of life, even if it is only for the day. My mom, dad, sister and her husband, and I all went for Father's Day. It wasn't too hot and the BBQ they offered was delicious. They offered chicken, ribs, baked beans, potato salad, etc. It was slightly crowded but what can you expect in such a large place. We were still able to relax in the pools and spas as well as get rafts to use in the floating pool. The staff was walking around offering cups of water to keep everyone hydrated. Our day at Glen Ivy was worth every cent! I'd totally recommend it to get away for the day.
Pros: beautiful environment, ice water served throughout the spa, free parking
Cons: Remember to bring sunscreen
