5 Star - 5 Diamond Resort in Service and Quality.
This by far is the most incredible experience/value in The United States. This Resort sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the quaint Dana Point Harbor. From the water featured monument signs to the top of the lounge deck you feel this sense of arrival with breath taking views. The lobby can be described as simply jaw dropping gorgeous yet warm and very inviting. The valet "boys" are poised and ready to assist you with a warm welcome and the front desk staff is so warm and sincere. The entire staff was the most well trained and professional staff we have ever experinced.
Everywhere we turned, the staff was smiling and greeting us- they acrually have been trained to make eye contact and greet every guest from the housekeepers to the pool staff.
We were absolutely blown away by the service and the quality of this newly renovated resort. Two pools with the best looking staff all greeted you and came around every hour on the hour withdifferent treats, They offered fresh slice fruit, evian mist, popsicles and even went around cleaning sun glasses. Talk about being pampered - WOW!! They have a fantastic kids club program with movie nights and the kids even get a free breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes - eggs - bacon just for going to the free movie night with a real old fashion pop corn machine.
Food incredible - Staff by far the best ever - We also met the General Manager who seemed to be everywhere day and night smiling and working side by side with his staff over the weekend.
The Ritz - St Regis better be worried because this product and this price is by far the best value anywhere.
My wife and I both agreed that even if this was more then those other resorts, we would stay here because of the staff alone!!! This is a GEM of all GEMS.......
Don't Stay Here!.
The property is in a great location and has a great view of the harbor.
Pros: The pools are acceptable one on each side of the property, especially the kid’s pool. Also on Saturday nights they have movie night for the kids where they have candy drinks and popcorn for the kids. You can use the internet to print your airline boarding pass.
Cons: A large public park is in front of the property, every view out of your hotel window is of the large family cookouts on picnic tables, people throwing the Frisbee, laying out in the grass, loud music, grilling, and piles of trash.
Our rooms 308 and 309 had a sewer smell coming from the bathroom, which we later found backed up into the bathtubs. They had to come in to our room one night because the 1st floor rooms were flooding due to issues in our room (11pm).
They did remodel but it looks more like paint and furniture, the building and plumbing are old and need repair. The hotel did refund the points I used for one of the rooms but for some reason didn’t want to refund the points for my other room.
I called the General Manager, Jim Samuels, three times and he never returned my calls. He sent me his assistant Felix, who had no authority to compensate us for this stay. Still waiting for a return call.
The hotel staff overall is very stale, untrained, unprofessional, confused and cold. The only person with personality was James in the valet.
This is a marginal hotel with a marginal staff. It is a reflection of the GM, Jim Samuels, who does not empower his employees to make decisions. He does not care enough to come out of his office and face the problems on his own. He seems like a rookie at managing hotels. This hotel lacks class and an exclusive feel for its location.
Expect to pay for internet. The fitness center is average and typical of other Marriott properties.
Amazing View. Make sure you receive a room with a full view of the ocean. The weather is perfect this time of year. There is construction going on right now and the fire alarm did malfunction two days in a row VERY early in the morning. The facility itself is updated and in an upscale location. Right across from the ocean and wharf. Plenty of options to shop and dine within walking distance.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Perched atop the cliffs of Dana Point and fronted by a 42-acre park, this California coastal-style resort is a popular choice for oceanside weddings and other special occasions. With a multimillion-dollar renovation completed in spring 2010, the 378 rooms (including 16 suites) take inspiration from water and sunshine with striped indigo-and-turquoise duvet covers and gold accents throughout. Guests can take a short walk to the quaint restaurants along Dana Point Harbor or stay onsite to enjoy California cuisine at Vue or Commodore's Lounge & Deck.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. What a PLEASANT surprise!! Beautiful hotel, beuaitful grounds, awesome views (especially at sunset). great staff! I can't rave about this hotel enough. nice, spacious, clean rooms. I love this hotel! I will definitely make it a point to go back!!!
The Best Spa!!!. Great service, fun and friendly people, beautiful place. Love the wellness services - changed my life.
Great. We had a spa weekend great view - we became members
Top Knotch!. I've stayed at this hotel twice and was pleased both times. Most rooms have an ocean view. The hotel is a very quick walk from the Doheney State Beach and also a quick walk to the marina where there are a number of restaurants and tourist shops. The hotel also has a kids club (a complementary babysitting service).
