Editorial Review for Disney's Grand Californian Hotel – by Gayot.com

The Scene
This luxury hotel redefines the Disneyland you know and love by providing top quality--one could say even lavish--accommodations for discerning theme park guests. Featuring classic Craftsman architecture and style (on a grand scale), the hotel offers spacious, quintessentially Californian guestrooms with views of California Adventure.

The Details
The Eureka Springs Health Club and touches such as stained glass and art deco moldings with inlaid details make the property unique. California cuisine is done well at Napa Rose, served with a long list of some of the best California wines. Though authentic, guests can't help but be reminded that this is a great facade and part of the theme park as they descend into the park via a private entrance gate.

Insider Tips

The Extras

When booking your room, have the reservations agent add the price of park admission to your package. It's the same admission price that park-goers pay at the monorail station or front gate, and you won't have to wait in line.

Know Before You Go

Rooms overlooking the Las Brisas courtyard have views of the monorail--it's surprisingly quiet, and park-goers will gaze up at your room with envy.

Look Good

Depending on your vacation package, hotel guests are often given early entry into the theme parks. Also, tyke-sized robes and bunk beds are available for the asking.

We have stayed at nearly every hotel in the Disneyland area and this was always on our dream list. Finally, we pulled it off and made our reservations. First arrival was very impressive as we were met at the gate and checked in quite easily. The Bell Captain was quick to help with bags and our stay was under way. Our room was nothing more than your average hotel room. The decor was fabulous throughout but this room left much to be desired. Wait, no wireless internet? The bathrobes were nice though. This hotel seemed better if you were not in your room. The pools/spa were awesome. The restaurants/lounge were great. The location is unbeatable until you look at your price tag. As much as we love Disney and as much as we go, this will be our last stay at this WAY overpriced hotel.

Pros: Good Parking, Great Service, Location

Cons: very expensive, average rooms

I live in Seattle and have visited Disneyland numerous times, but this was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at! It had amazing service; they were more then willing to make you feel at home! They had a great restaurant that the whole family would enjoy which we dined at many times throughout our stay. It was also great to be able to enter the park and be able to come in and out as you pleased. There pools were stunning and there pool side service was just as amazing as the pools themselves! It was a little bit expensive, but Im a firm believer in what you pay for is what you get!

Pros: Amazing Service, Easy Park Access, Stunning Pools

Cons: Expensive
