This place was a nightmare for my family. My son and I were pushed, shoved and elbowed by a man in line and the security did not help us. I fear for families who go to this park.
Came here the week after six flags, and honestly overall, knott's is better. I came here with my niece to treat her to a fun day and she just loved it. Personally I want to try and come here for their Halloween event, looks rather enticing. When I came here though it felt like a wholesome place to bring family to. I'm glad I brought my little niece here, though I don't know if I will again because she kept wanting to get me wet at soak city.
Hot day at the park.
I took my kids to the park 2 summers ago since I visited here as a child when in California decades ago. It was a very hot day and there was no relief from the sun. This park does not have many shady areas. We usually start later in the day so we can go into the night so strategically we were able to avoid the sun because it was evening.
The water ride was great and we were able to get on over and over as it got later. Most people didn't want to get wet in the evening.
In the evening there are a lot of horny teenagers making out in the dark corners. A lot more attitude as they start taking over the park later in the day. Mouthy and disrespectful but when you go on the cheaper end you are going to find there are always some of those in the crowd. All in all though it was more family oriented earlier in the day... the teenagers must be sleeping in. Mostly they appeared unsupervised.
There was one instance when I told my boys to go around a large group of teenagers and a mouthy tweener, in front of her mother, challenged me. NICE!
The hold up on the train was disappointing as I recall it being a loud shoot out with the actors really getting into it. Now the cowboys come right up to you, real friendly like, and say hi. Probably better for little kids. What happened to the action packed entertainment?
All in all, if you can't afford the steep price at Disney, younger kids may not know the difference. Bring them here and as they get older, they will really enjoy the higher end Disney Park.
We spend every summer here and I won't be going back to this park. That encounter with the "supervised" tweener in a larger group of tweeners becoming so confrontational was really uncomfortable because it could have only gone downhill if I had engaged. I had two young boys with me. We left the park immediately.
Oldies are goodies best Theme Park around. This park has been around forever, but the place still has that magic. The rides are great and the place looks like a western movie..what more can you ask for. One of the reasons we decided to go was my friend told me about this site called discounts4fun. We got 30% off our tickets by using this site. Love this park!
knotts. its definitely not disneyland by any means but it can be fun for the family. my favorite time to go is around halloween. the rides are fun and its something the whole family can do
The only time to go is Halloween!. So, sure this is a fun place- not as cool as Disneyland, not as many great rides as Six Flags...but the coolest thing about this place is when it turns in to Knott's Scary Farm, which makes the whole thing entirely worth it. Kind of a one time thing, but definitely something to check out if you've never been.
HELP.
is knotts berry farm the right choice?
i see multiple bad and good ratings
and im wondering if its the way to go for my family
HELP
Knotts so nice, berry farm.
My 12 year old daughter just got back from Knotts yesterday where she attended a birthday party for one of her class mates. The only thing she could talk about were all the strange people that she saw there and how they scarred her.. She said the place was full of "goth" people and kids with excessive amounts of piercings and tattoos, and it made her feel uncomfortable. She was particularly scared of one goth kid who had white contacts in his eyes ...... She also said that the staff wasn't very friendly... She made the comment "It's no Disneyland".
As a parent, I don't want my kids put into an environment that makes them feel uncomfortable or presents a bad influence on them. I'm sure we'll never go to Knotts again and I'll recommend to the school districts that they continue to go the Disney for their school outtings....... As it appears that Knotts is looking at Magic Mountain as a business model instead of raising it's standards to that of Disney..
An old-time outpost with kid-friendly rides and a growing number of state-of-the-art thrills..
The Appeal
It may be lower in profile than Disneyland with a county-fair ambience, but this theme park is doing its fair share of luring in the masses. At the heart of Knott's Berry Farm is an old-fashioned ghost town, complete with saloon shows and blacksmith demonstrations. For a real treat, don't miss the deliciously twisty funnel cakes and the park's famed jams and jellies, on sale next door at the marketplace.
Facts and Features
Favorite adrenaline-pumping attractions include Ghost Rider, a purposely rickety wooden coaster, and Supreme Scream, a 250-foot-tall free fall. You'll also find old standbys like SoCal's original water rafting ride, Bigfoot Rapids, and the no-frills mainstay Timber Mountain Log Ride. Younger kids will enjoy Camp Snoopy, offering photo ops with Peanuts characters, and Indian Trails, featuring native arts and crafts.
Best theme park in So Cal. In the "Land of Disney", I have to say that my favorite theme park is actually Knott's. As a native Angeleno, I've been visiting Knott's for decades. It's changed a lot over the years (like all the theme parks), but they've held onto many of the things I love about this park. The old western town...the midway games...and it's still one of the few places I can get a truly mouth-puckering pickle right out of a huge wooden barrel. Of course, these days they are famous for their Halloween Haunt, but throughout the rest of the year, it's still fun. Of course, there's always fried chicken and boysenberry syrup!!
