Editorial Review for Chanel Boutique – by Alyssa Kolsky
In Short
Trends come and go (and you can always find 'em here) but Chanel remains faithful to its roots with tried-and-true basics like the quilted leather handbags, heavy cardigan tweed suits and chunky gold jewelry bearing those coveted interlocking Cs. On a budget? A classic bottle of Chanel No. 5--still one of the store's top sellers--is relatively inexpensive and never goes out of style.

I love chanel. I really do. So when I went to the store in BH, I expected to have a chic, life-changing experience. The first time I went was to have a bag repaired. I was greeted very warmly by the doorman. The sales people took a while to assist me. I wanted to look around, but didn't b/c I felt very awkward b/c everyone was staring at me. The second time I came was even worse. It was on a Friday. The doorman was snooty this time but I didn't care too much this time. There were about 6 other people in the store that were getting all the attention. There were more salespeople than customers, yet it took 10 minutes for me even to get a glance- meanwhile I was looking all of them in their eyes for assistance. I looked briefly, around the store this time, and felt even more discerning looks on me. I guess this is to be expected at chanel in BH. I guess friendly isn't hip anymore. Definitely dress to impress-status symbols help
Pros: Beautiful chanel goodies!
Cons: Snobby snobby salespeople!

Look you are worth it! One little wallet or perhaps just a scarf? In my case I picked out the handbag and ballet flats of my dreams. The selection was amazing. In advance I had studied the Chanel 2006 fall collection and thought I knew what I wanted until I found the store had a wild selection of unique Chanel items. Not everything is plastered with the logo. You can find classy accessories with a subtle logo. And you will pleasantly surprised at the cost. I wore the sales associate out with questions and checking on color availability. She patiently wrote style numbers and pricing information down for me so I could think it over. There wasn't a moment I felt pressure to make a purchase. The staff was professional and ultra helpful. I left the store and returned the next day to make my purchase. It makes sense to get some space between you and that intoxicating rush you feel in the boutique. My home state doesn't have a Chanel presence so I had my handbag and shoes shipped to me, saved paying tax and they shipped the items free. I visited LV, Gucci, D&G, but I have to say....Chanel was magical.
Pros: Unique items you won't find anyplace else.
